According to Sanspo, Masaki printed many of his dog pictures from his camera after the shoot, and he took them as a souvenir. (tokyohive)

Oh, he's such a cutie pie here! But shouldn't Canon give him one of the printers since he's advertising for them~

Rejoice! Mizushima Hiro's short hair is back!!!

Notice how hot Hiro looks now?
Another private showing for the upcoming movie, “BECK“, was held in Tokyo on the 28th, and the cast of the film all showed up.
As many of you already know, the movie is originally a popular manga, and it’s the story about a rock band named “BECK”. Members of the band are Mizushima Hiro (Guitar), Sato Takeru (Vocals and Guitar), Kiritani Kenta (Vocals), Nakamura Aoi (Drums), and Mukai Osamu (Bass).

Mizushima Hiro appears in the movie with long hair, and he confessed that he was told by his friend’s kid, “Hiro-kun, you don’t look good with that hair.” He also said, “I was hurt because kids are very honest…but let me tell you it was a wig!”
“BECK” will be released very soon on September 4th! (tokyohive)

I am so glad he has his regular hair back! It's the return of the drop-dead gorgeous Mizushima Hiro~ I think I really hate BECK for destroying Mizushima Hiro's good looks these past few months. The trailer and all actually annoy me.

Hooray for short hair! ♥

Just a minor announcement: In the future, all posts like this and other posts with a lot of photos will have the label 'pictorial'. This way, it'll be easier for those who are more interested in seeing pictures. The label 'Japan' will also be removed, I feel that it's kind of unnecessary and just adds to the long list of labels in each post. For some stupid reason, I really can't bear to remove it, so posts will just stay with the label 'Japan' for now.

Ueda Tatsuya's toe broken from concert mishap

It was earlier reported that KAT-TUN member Ueda Tatsuya had disjointed his left big toe during their live concert in Taiwan on Friday. However, it seems that it is more serious than originally reported, as two parts of his toe are actually broken.

KAT-TUN held the final day of their “KAT-TUN LIVE TOUR 2010 PART2 : WORLD BIG TOUR” at Taiwan Arena yesterday, and Ueda showed up on stage with his broken toe, exactly as he had promised to earlier.

He said to audience of 13,000, “I’m sorry for making you worried, but I will try to give you a good performance, as much as I can.”

Tatsuya also a solo concert “MOUSE PIECE unting with FIVE TATSUYA UEDA LIVE 2010” in Hiroshima today (August 29th), and he will perform, even with his injury. (tokyohive)

Poor guy, I think he should take a rest instead of performing three days in a row!

This post is so dull it doesn't deserve a title

My preliminary exams are over! I'm quite sure I did badly but I'm just relieved that it's over.

I've just made some changes to my blog! (I have a really bad habit of stating the obvious, sorry! XD) Firstly, a new template! Being the HTML/blogging noob that I am, I only just found out that changing your template also destroys any modifications you might have made to your old HTML. So I'm free of the stupid retweet button that I accidentally placed at the end of each post. Secondly, the Blogger navbar is back! I used to find it annoying, but now I've realised that it's more convenient as I can just login to Blogger from my site.

I'm sorry if the last paragraph was one big bore to you, I'm really boreeed now. Can you believe it, it's the first day after exams and I'm already bored. I was supposed to watch Step Up 3D with my "friends" yesterday, but being the (not so popular) female version of Kiritani Shuji, I ran away after the last paper ended. It's not that I dislike them, but going out with my classmates is such a ... chore.

My bored face~ I don't know why, but I remind myself of Kame in the picture on the left. :S Is that good or bad? Oh yes, speaking about KAT-TUN, poor Ueda!!! Though I'm sure it's not a very big injury, it still sounds so painful~

Okay, I shall spare you more of my prattling on and on and go think of more interesting things to write about while I re-watch the Johnny's Countdown 2009-2010. I only just watched it for the first time ever this morning! Yes, I'm almost 9 months late!

Both dresses from Lowry's farm (I want!)

Ueda Tatsuya injured during KAT-TUN concert in Taipei

On Friday, KAT-TUN's Ueda Tatsuya (26) was injured during their concert at the Taipei Arena. He dislocated his left big toe and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance, but the other members successfully finished off the performance. In addition, it was learned that same day that the group has big concert plans for next year.

Ueda's injury occurred near the end of the concert. After finishing his solo of "RABBIT OR WOLF," he jumped down from a 3-meter-tall stage, but failed to land on target. He was able to make it backstage on his own, where he collapsed. He was transported to a nearby hospital by an ambulance on standby.

Bandmate Kamenashi Kazuya (24) promised the 13,000 fans that Ueda will be back for Saturday's (today's!) concert. Johnny's Entertainment has also said that since Ueda wants to perform today, he will do so, even though his injury might affect his performance. It has already been confirmed that Ueda returned to the group's lodging after he received medical treatment at the hospital. Johnny's Entertainment has also stated that he will perform a solo concert in Hiroshima on Sunday as planned.

Next year marks the 5th anniversary of KAT-TUN's CD debut. To celebrate, they are currently in the planning stages of two concert tours. One will take place between spring and summer and consist of five shows within Japan. Instead of typical venues such as domes, they are reportedly aiming to perform at industrial complexes.

The second tour is scheduled for fall 2011, and it will be an overseas tour taking them to Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, China, and Hawaii. (Tokyograph)

Ugh, poor Uepi! It sounds so painful... But hopefully it's not anything too serious!

Tamaki Hiroshi and Kato Rosa dating again

This week's issue of FRIDAY speculates that actor Tamaki Hiroshi (30) and actress Kato Rosa (25) are dating again, based on new photos of the two. They were first rumored to be an item in the summer of 2007, but they broke up and were each involved in other relationships since then.
In 2007, they were said to be like close family friends, and it looks like they still are. Sometime this month, Kato and a woman who appeared to be her mother visited Tamaki and his family at their home. On a separate occasion in July, Tamaki picked up Kato in his car and they drove back to his house. FRIDAY also took a picture of the pair on a drive date earlier this month.
Although they are said to have broken up three years ago, a friend who knows both of them explained that Kato was still like a younger sister to Tamaki, and the two continued going out for meals together. A different source said that while they are currently dating again, it seems that the topic of marriage has not come up.
Kato's management said that she and Tamaki are good friends, while Tamaki's agency declined to comment. (Tokyograph)

Pictorial post

Actor Osamu Mukai (28) in his days as a student. According to the date of the photo, he was 22 then.

Kamenashi Kazuya in his days as a Johnny's Junior, before he went for plastic surgery. (you can have fun debating about this one)

Sato Takeru in high school? I'm pretty sure this isn't really his high school picture because 1. There's no way his hair could have been that messy for school, and 2. It's taken against a background of... trees?!

Ninomiya in primary school. Looks somewhat the same, doesn't he? :p
Tanaka Koki's bare back, described as "fat" by the source. Well, I guess if you've become used to all the Johnnys who are all ribs...
I've been wondering for quite a while if I should continue to place posts related to Jin under the label "KAT-TUN", since he has left the group. :X Please tell me your opinion through the poll on top. I will follow the result with the most number of votes.

Kitagawa Keiko and Osamu Mukai spotted together on her bithday! Poor Pi-chan~

Kitagawa Keiko (24) has almost always been romantically linked to Yamashita Tomohisa of NEWS, but it seems that she has found a new love interest - her newest co-star from "Paradise Kiss", Osamu Mukai (28).

Kitagawa and Osamu were seen together at a pub in Sangenjaya on 22 August. While some might be quick to dismiss it as over-dramatisation by tabloids and fans, Kitagawa Keiko's 24th birthday fell on 22 August 2010, the day they met up. Many would think that she would have chosen to spend such a special day with her long-time rumoured-to-be boyfriend, Yamapi.

A witness who was at the same pub said, "I first noticed Osamu, who was tall and very handsome. I was lucky to see him, a friend of mine who a fan of his pointed him out to me." (Entame)

The source does say that there are pictures of the two of them from that day, but when I clicked on the links provided... the picture above is all I got.

Akanishi Jin and Yamapi not getting along?

Recently, it was formally announced that Akanishi Jin (26) would be leaving KAT-TUN. It is now being reported that he was in a quarrel with Yamashita Tomohisa (25) from NEWS, who is reported to have always gotten along well with Jin. They are both popular members of talent agency Johnny's Entertainment.

The two of them were often sighted together in restaurants and clubs in the Roppongi area. However, there have not been any recent sightings of the two.

It seems that Yamashita is unhappy about Jin's withdrawl from KAT-TUN and sees it as being selfish. It is also said that Yamapi avoiding Roppongi, choosing to go to other areas such as Shibuya and Nakameguro. (now you know where to go to stalk him ^^) (Entame)

Isn't Jin too busy with his work in the US to go party with Yamapi all night?

Tegoshi Yuya (NEWS) visited hairdressing salon with his foreign girlfriend

NEWS member Tegoshi Yuya was spotted last night entering a hair salon in Roppongi with a blonde foreigner.
The salon is known for catering to foreign clients, and the salon closed shop for the pair so that it would be a private event. While the two were successful entering the salon quietly, the opposite happened when they exited.
Despite getting noticed by people, Tegoshi never let go of the girl’s hand. The two were last seen headed toward the Ginza district. (tokyohive)

New getsu9 jdorama confirmed, no title yet

It's Monday and another rumored fall drama has finally been confirmed, but they are still deciding on suitable a title.

Actor Takenouchi Yutaka (39) will return to Fuji TV's prestigious Monday 9pm timeslot after more than 9 years since "Dekichatta Kekkon" in 2001. He is going to play a desperate man who ends up in a contract marriage with a woman working in the sex industry who seems to be just as desperate as him played by Ueto Aya (24). What starts out as a mere contract marriage eventually turns into a true and pure love.

Takenouchi plays Kengo, a man who enjoys spending his time at the aquarium. He seems to be a pretty ordinary person, but he actually has a huge secret that he would protect even if it means to sacrifice everything else in his life. Out of interest he ends up in a contract marriage with a prostitute called Risa who tried to commit suicide. Soon they develop real feelings for each other, but harsh reality turns out to be a rather high obstacle for the couple.
The producers are confident that they've found the perfect actor for this difficult role. "We wanted to portray a story about deep and genuine love and Takenouchi was the best choice that came to mind for such a difficult role. He will be great playing that man troubled by false love that suddenly turns into true love," the producer said with high expectations.

Ueto is going to play the female lead and it will be her first time working together with Takenouchi. In the past she already played a woman who would act as the lover of man in return for money, but it's the first time she's actually portraying the role of a prostitute. Her role, Risa, ends up selling her body in order to repay a huge debt of her older brother. Her only way out seems to be death as displayed via various remarks such as, "I just want to dissolve like a jellyfish."

In September they will start the filming and Takenouchi can't wait to meet the team. "I'm looking forward to meet Ueto as well as the rest of the cast and the whole staff. I'd like to work hard with everyone in the team in order to create something that will stay in your memories forever," Takenouchi made clear that he is aiming for one of those masterpiece dramas that have become rare in Fuji TV's main drama slot.
Ueto promised to work hard as well, "Risa is a young woman hungry for love who ends up rediscovering the importance of being alive thanks to a relationship that started out as a mere contract marriage. I'd like to try my best conveying the development of that love."
Young actor Matsuda Shota (24) will also appear as a doctor while actress Kitano Kie (19) will play the protagonist's younger sister who is suffering from a serious disease.
The official title has yet to be announced. Filming will start in September while the first episode is planned to air in October. (Kawaii Joyuu)

Oda Yuji in drama sequel of "Amalfi: Megami no Hoshu"

Actor Oda Yuji (42), who just got married last week, will be reprising his role in a sequel to last year's hit movie "Amalfi: Megami no Hoshu". However, this time it will be turned into a television series, rather than another film.
The drama is tentatively titled "Kaikoukan Kuroda Kosaku." As the name indicates, the show will focus on the diplomat Kosaku Kuroda, Oda's character in "Amalfi." After the success of the movie, sources say that Oda strongly wanted to play the character in a television series. While the movie told the story of a single kidnapping, the drama will take on a much bigger scale, with Kuroda becoming involved in various situations such as international terrorism and domestic crimes. Right now the script is in development, though details will have to wait until Oda returns from his honeymoon overseas.
Fuji TV will broadcast the drama. It is planning to start the series in January in the Thursday 10:00pm time slot, though filming will begin as early as mid-September. (Tokyograph)

Viva hardworking!

I've been obsessing about these three things lately:
1. Tiffany & Co.
2. Rilakkuma
3. Japanese magzine freebies!

There's still a week to go before the end of my preliminary exams. I can't wait till it's all over so that I can do all the things I want! I'm looking forward to checking out this shop at Plaza Singapura which apparently sells lots of Rilakkuma items. It's called "Sanrio Gift Gate", anyone heard of it?

I was forced to do detention yesterday because I've been late for school too many times now. Actually sometimes it's because I walk too slowly. I can walk much faster than that but I just really don't want to go to school. Anyway, my detention wasn't even bad or anything since the teacher just left me alone in the room. I even went out to buy food and stopped to chat with a classmate. It was even air-conditioned! But I wantmy shoes were wet from the rain in the morning so I didn't particularly enjoy that luxury.

I want to speak complain about my exams but I shan't because if I do I'll just continue ranting forever. :) It's about 90% confirmed that I am going to learn Japanese after my O levels! I recently approaced my dad (who has done his JLPT 4) on the topic so at least now I can learn it and actually get certified, rather than just learning by myself in secret.

Okay, I'm going off to study! >:/ I still have a shot at scoring well in two subjects and, erm, saving myself from a fail in Chemistry by doing well in the multiple choice section. PASS CHEMISTRY DAISAKUSEN, FIGHT-OH, OH!

600 000 yen for an Arashi concert ticket?!

Ticket brokers have been buying and reselling Arashi concert tickets online on unofficial "ticket distribution centres" at ridiculous prices. For example, for thei concert at the National Stadium on July 21, a ticket that was originally priced at 7 000 yen was sold for 600 000 yen, more than 85 times the original price! (Entame)

Which male celebrity wold you like watch fireworks with?

A survey of 400 female on "Summer Love" was conducted by Japan cosmetic brand "LC LOVE" the other day. In the survey, one question asked was "Which male celebrity do you want to watch fireworks with?".

Mukai Osamu got first place with a wide lead over the others. The reason was mostly becasue "He looks both intelligent and tender." The 2nd place was Arashi, the group has a strong image of unity. However, Aiba Masaki, a member of Arashi won the 3rd place, while Matsumoto Jun was tied for 7th place with Oguri Shun.
The top 10 below:

1 Mukai Osamu
2 Arashi
3 Aiba Masaki
4 Sato Takeru
5 Kamiji Yusuke
6 Koike Teppei
7 Matsumoto Jun
7 Oguri Shun

10 Ikuta Toma

Aragaki Yui gives her impression of Arashi

Aragaki Yui made an appearance on the “VIP ROOM” segment of Arashi’s variety show, “Himitsu no Arashi-chan“, on the 19th of August. On that particular segment of the show, the guests always gives their impression of the Arashi members at the start of the corner.
Yui’s impression of the members was:
Sakurai Sho is terrified of heights.
Aiba Masaki takes the brunt of the teasing from other members.
Matsumoto Jun was called tsundere (describes a person who is initially cold, and even hostile, towards another person before gradually showing their warm side).
Ninomiya Kazunari thinks he’s cool.
Ohno Satoshi appears to be easy to forget, but he’s not.
Next, Yui had to pick her “favorite Arashi”, and she choose Ohno Satoshi, who seems to be the popular man of the group with all the female celebrities. (tokyohive)

The latest issue of Josei Seven includes a rumor that actress Hirouse Ryoko (30) has a new boyfriend. This past Sunday, she was seen on the campus of Hokkaido University, apparently on a date with candle artist Candle JUNE.

According to the magazine, Candle JUNE's Tokyo store is near Hirosue's home, so they happened to meet and gradually became closer. Hirosue was also seen at one of the artist's events this past spring.
Hirosue's agency was unable to comment, saying that it does not know the details about her private life. Before this, Hirosue was rumored to be in a serious relationship with actor Nagai Masaru (32), but they seem to have broken up around the start of this year. Neither of their agencies ever confirmed that relationship.

Toda Erika and Kase Ryo for "Keizoku" sequel

Toda Erika (21) and Kase Ryo (35) will co-star in a TBS drama series this fall. The show, titled "SPEC," is described as a sequel to the 1999 series "Keizoku," which starred Nakatani Miki (34) and Watabe Atsuro (42).
The full title of the new series is "Keizoku 2: SPEC ~ Keishichou Kouanbu Kouan Daigoka Mishou Jiken Tokubetsu Taisakugakari Jikenbo." Like the original series, "SPEC" will revolve around a pair of police detectives as part of a special division solving difficult cases. Toda plays the part of Touma, a woman with an IQ of 201 with a touch of sadism and an inability to "read the atmosphere" ("kuuki ga yomenai") in social situations. Her character uses little makeup, has poor posture, and is always pulling around a small suitcase with wheels. Due to a previous case, her left arm is in a sling.
Meanwhile, Kase had to shave his head for his role as Touma's partner, a fellow detective who considers her unreliable. This will be his first time in a lead role on a television series.
Other cast members include 70-year-old veteran Ryu Raita (who also appeared in "Keizoku"), Saki Fukuda Saki (19), Shirota Yuu (24), and Kamiki Ryunosuke (17). The show will be directed by Tsutsumi Yukihiko, who also handled the original series.
TBS will air "SPEC" on Friday nights at 10:00pm, starting in October. (Tokyograph)

Matsumoto Jun's drama cut short due to poor ratings

It has been decided that the drama "Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku", starring Matsumoto Jun from Arashi and Takeuchi Yuko, will be cut short. There will only be 10 episodes. The reason for this was the low viewership ratings that the show has experienced so far.

The only time this jdorama has achieved more than 15% ratings was for the first episode, which was broadcast on the 19th of July and recieved a rating of 15.7%. The fifth episode, which was aired yesterday, had a rating of only 10.2%. The ratings so far have averaged at 12.36%, which is not good for the prestigous Monday 9pm slot that it occupies.

It is understood that the next drama to be aired in that slot will star Ueto Aya, opposite Takenouchi Yutaka. (Entame)

Which young actress can act as a wicked woman?

goo made a survey about actresses again, using NTT DoCoMo's voting and ranking feature and this time almost 40,000 people answered the question about "Which young actress would have no problems playing a wicked woman?".

With more than twice the amount of votes than the 2nd place, actress Yoshitaka Yuriko (22) was able to monopolize the top position in this ranking. She can probably thank her previous not-so-innocent roles like in the drama "Taiyo to Umi no Kyoshitsu" and, of course, in the movie "Snakes and Earrings". However, with her most recent starring role as a girl with an incurable disease in the drama "Mioka" and other previous roles she also has shown that she can play more than just one type of role. Anyway, most people think that she would have no problems at all conveying the role of a wicked woman.

The full results are as follows

01 – Yoshitaka Yuriko

02 – Nagasawa Masami
03 – Ishihara Satomi
04 – Inoue Mao
05 – Aoi Yuu
06 – Ueto Aya
07 – Miyazaki Aoi
08 – Ayase Haruka
09 – Tabe Mikako

Yamapi and Iseya Yusuke in boxer shots for 2011 movie

Upcoming movie, “Ashita no Joe (Tomorrow’s Joe)“, will be released in Feburary of 2011. Ashita no Joe is a legendary boxing manga, and both Yamashita Tomohisa (NEWS) and Iseya Yusuke will play a boxer. It will be a while before the movie is released, but the photos of Yamashita Tomohisa and Iseya Yusuke in boxing shorts have been revealed to generate interest. (Good thinking!)

According to Sports Nippon, both of them dealt with amazingly hard training. Yamapi started the training in February, not only weight lifting, but also had a special diet, as he only ate chicken breast and salad. Due to the hard training, Yamapi lost 8.5 kg even though he was already skinny, but he looks more muscular. After seeing his firm flesh muscles, even other NEWS members were worried about him.

When the shoot for the climax of the movie occurred in May, Yamapi and Yusuke’s body fat percentage were 5% (Yamapi) and 3% (Yusuke), which are even lower numbers than professional athletes. (tokyohive)

3% body fat is downright scaryyyy.

Tegomasu perform at a friend's wedding

Tegoshi Yuya and Masuda Takahisa from NEWS talked about attending Tegoshi’s friend’s wedding, and sang “Hanamuke” for them at their concert on July 31st. Since many fans requested details about it, Masuda talked about it on his radio show “Masuda Takahisa no MASTER HITS” on the 13th.
According to Masuda, Tegoshi asked him to attend his close friend’s wedding and sing “Hanamuke” together. Even though Masuda was not even acquainted with the couple, he said singing at the wedding was very impressive.
Masuda also said, “Since we, Tegomasu, have a wedding song like ‘Hanamuke’, it would be great if we could be ’singing delivery’ for weddings.” (tokyohive)

Nino to act as a freeter in new drama

Arashi's Ninomiya Kazunari (27) is confirmed to be starring in a new drama series this fall. Titled "Freeter, Ie wo Kau," the show will feature Ninomiya as a part-time worker trying to get his life back together for the sake of his family. Karina (26) will play the female lead.

The show is Ninomiya's first starring role in a drama series since the 2008 "Ryusei no Kizuna." As an actor, he has recently been focused on filming for his upcoming movies "Ooku" and "GANTZ." In contrast with those spectacular big screen roles, his character in this home drama will be a freeter (a term used to describe young people without full time employment, not counting students and homemakers).

The story is based on a book of the same name by Arikawa Hiro, published last year. The story revolves around a young man named Take Seiji (Ninomiya), who quits his job after three months. With no dreams, no savings, and a poor relationship with his family, he becomes a hikikomori in his own room. However, after his mother falls ill with depression, he ends up having to take on a part-time job at a construction site.

Because of that, he soon decides to work towards rebuilding his life: "Even though I'm just a freeter, I'm going to buy a house for the sake of my family."

One of the people he meets at the construction site is Chiba Manami (Karina), who graduated from a top-class university and joined a well-known general contracting firm. Manami, proud to be working as an on-site supervisor, is the complete opposite of Seiji. But while their personalities clash at first, they gradually come to understand each other.

Filming already started earlier this month. The show will air on Fuji TV on Tuesdays at 9:00pm, starting in October. (Tokyograph)

Never heard of this Karina woman, despite watching Galileo, which her dramawiki page says she acted in.

Complaints about Ayase in "Hotaru no Hikari 2"

It seems that actress Ayase Haruka (25) has not been welcomed by viewers in her return as Hotaru in "Hotaru no Hikari 2", which is currently airing in Japan. NTV, the channel which airs the drama, has recieved many letters of complaint regarding Ayase in the drama. Some of the letters have pretty nasty comments.

At least one letter complains about Ayase's relationship with Osawa Takao (42), her co-star from another drama (JIN). Majority of the other letters complain about how Ayase no longer looks the same. Some feel that Ayase does not look as young and healthy as in the first series, which was aired in 2007. Apparently, Ayase now has sunken cheekbones and looks skinny, rather than slim.

Staff at NTV have said that they are not bothered by the hateful letters. After all, it is only natural that Ayase will change, since there has been a 3 year gap between the two dramas. (Entame)

Tackey and Tsubasa to make a comeback?

Takizawa Hideaki is currently holding a solo concert tour, “Tackey Summer Concert 2010 YOU mo kityainayo Tacky resort”, and his partner, Imai Tsubasa is playing on his stage performance “PLAYZONE” right now.
It has been more than 2 years since they last released a single as Tackey & Tsubasa, and since then, they have only been active as solo artists. As a result, there were rumors that they might disband soon, and that their relationship was on rocky terms.
However, Tackey mentioned that he talked to Tsubasa about releasing a new single sometime soon, and he also said that they want to hold live concert together as well. As Tacky said, “Tsubasa and I can understand each other without any words.”. (tokyohive)

Miura Haruma and Tabe Mikako at NTV's "Shiodome Expo"

Actress Tabe Mikako (21) and actor Miura Haruma (20) were present at NTV's annual "Shiodome Expo" to promote their upcoming movie "Kimi ni Todoke" at their very own booth with the love bell and their hand prints.

NTV is hosting the "Shiodome Expo" every summer which allows their viewers to experience various booths of their favorite TV shows including "ItteQ!", "Black Variety", "Downtown no Gaki no Tsukasa" as well as their dramas and movies. You can buy various goods, enjoy their restaurant and watch live performances.

Both young actors said that they were able to wear a yukata for the first time this year thanks to the event. Tabe mentioned at the PR event that she likes to be active during the summer. "I love water skiing," she said. Miura loves going to the sea as well, "I always can't wait to go surfing again."

"Kimi ni Todoke" is a pure senior high school love story based on a manga of the same name. It will open in Japan no September 25, 2010. (Kawaii Joyuu)

SMAP in Chinese newspaper - Shanghai concert, Kusanagi mocks himself

SMAP in 联合早报, 4 August 2010
I saw this article in the Chinese newspaper last week and wanted to translate it, but kept on procrastinating. :X Anyway, here goes.

The Japanese media has reported that during idol group SMAP's concert in Sapporo the previous day (this article was published on 4th August so do the maths yourself), the group announced that they will be holding concerts in Shanghai, China on the 9th and 10th of October. These concerts are to make up for the cancelled Shanghai Expo concert, which was to be held in June this year (contradicts with earlier report). This will be the first overseas performance for SMAP in its 23 years.

The concert at the Shanghai Expo had been cancelled due to worries from the organiser regarding crowd control. According to the report, the Chinese government had approved of SMAP's upcoming concert on the 29th of July.

Recently, SMAP has been busy with their "We are SMAP! 2010 SMAP CONCERT TOUR". During their performace in the Sapporo Dome the other day, SMAP member Kimura Takuya suddenly announced "We will be having a concert in Shanghai!", causing the 50 000 strong audience to burst out in cheers.

The upcoming concert is to be held at the Shanghai Staduim, where famous singer Celine Dion has performed before. SMAP will be the first Japanese artist to perform there. They are expecting 80 000 fans over the two days of the concert. The concert will be similar to those they perform in Japan. As for whether SMAP will be singing any Chinese songs, they are still thinking about it.

SMAP has expressed their views on the upcoming concert, "We are looking forward to it! If everyone works hard together, we are sure it can become the best live concert!" Ingaki Goro even said that they must first learn how to greet their fans in Chinese.

SMAP also said that if the Shanghai concert goes well, they are planning to hold more overseas concerts. Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, who is fluent in Korean, said that he wants to hold a SMAP concert in Korea.

In April this year, Kimura Takuya starred across Chinese actress Lin Chi-ling in Fuji TV drama "Moon Lovers". This has increased SMAP's popularity in China. (the article didn't mention that the drama was a flop). SMAP's most recent album, "We are SMAP!", is selling well in China.

Dueing the concert in Sapporo the previous day, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi sang the song 归来的醉汉, which means "The drunkard which returns late". I don't listen to SMAP songs, so I have no idea what the actual title of the song is. This song has been widely-known as Kusanagi's "real-life song" after he was caught running around naked in a park n Japan last year after dring heavily. When arrested by the police, he confronted them, saying "What's wrong with being naked?". Before singing the song, Kusanagi made fun of himself, "This is a song that really suirs me, it will probably raise an interesting reaction."

As the song began to play, Kusanagi kneeled on the floor, moving his body slowly in time to the music, as if he was very drunk. The other four members of SMAP, who were at one side, could not help but laugh at hm. Kimura Takuya, after watching Kusanagi's performance twice, not only almost had a complete change in expression, he also gave a "red card" to Kusangagi, causing the audience to burst out in laughter.

"Hotaru no Hikari 2" to be broadcast in Taiwan soon

It has been announced that popular drama “Hotaru no Hikari 2“, starring Ayase Haruka, will also be broadcasted in Taiwan starting on August 14th.
It is extremely rare that a Japanese drama be broadcasted in a foreign country when it’s still on air in Japan. According to the Taiwanese broadcasting company, the previous season of “Hotaru no Hikari” was in the best 3 of more than 60 dramas broadcasted in Taiwan during 2008.
Before the release in Taiwan, one of the cast members, Itaya Yuka, visited Taiwan and held promotions there. (tokyohive)

Mini news flash in colour photos: Kame, Tackey, Kitagawa Keiko, Akanishi and Yamada Ryosuke

Private picture of JE boys Kamenashi Kazuya (KAT-TUN) and Takizawa Hideaki (Tackey & Tsubasa) leaked! Nothing scandalous, though. I assume that the reason why there's such a big buzz about this photo being leaked is because Johnny's Entertainment is so fiercely protective of their artists' photos? (janimoe)

Kitagawa Keiko spotted with a ring on the ring finger of a right hand. There is speculation that the ring might be a present from her long-time rumoured to be boyfriend, Yamashita Tomohisa of NEWS. (gazoudaisuki)

Some random photo of Akanishi Jin that was taken this year! (janimoe) Earlier I said it was a photo of Jin after his birthday party, but I'm wrong. Sorry~
I hope you found this interesting~ This is the first time I'm doing this, so let me know if you want to see more of these mini-posts in the future!

Also, please do take all this with a pinch of salt, because I myself am not so sure about the credibility of the sources. Alright, I should really stop nagging! :p

To end off, a photo of cutie pie Yamada Ryosuke from Hey! Say! JUMP! (janimoe)
Have a good night, everyone!

AKB48's "Heavy Rotation" fast catching up with Arashi

Oh no... All-female idol group AKB48's newest single, "Heavy Rotation", which was released on the 18 of July, has apparently sold close to 650 000 copies, almost catching up with Arashi's 690 000 copies for "Monster", which was released earlier this year on 10th May.

The PV for the single has generated a lot of buzz, especially with the young female members of the group dressed in lingerie and kissing each other. Some say that this buzz will cause "Heavy Rotation" to become the best selling single of the year.

This sales record is the best ever for AKB48. (Entame)

Nakama Yukie's poster for her upcoming stage performance~

Nakama Yukie will play the lead role for stage performance “Ryukyu Romanesc Temperor“, which will start on February 6th through 28th, at the Akasaka ACT Theater, Tokyo. The poster was recently revealed, in which Yukie shows herself in a traditional Okinawan dress.

This stage performance is about the Ryukyu Kingdom, which existed in Okinawa during 1429 to 1879.
Okinawa is where Yukie was born and raised. Yukie said, “It’s a story of my hometown, so it is special to me. I hope people will feel both the sad and happy aspects of Okinawan history.”
Other cast members are Namase Katsuhisa and Yamamoto Kouji. (tokyohive)

Sakamoto Masayuki (V6) to star in play "Zorro"

Sakamoto Masayuki (39) of V6 will take on the starring role in a production of the "Zorro" musical next year. Sakamoto has appeared in stage productions every year since 1992, but this is said to be the first time that he has earned the part through an audition.
The "Zorro" musical was first performed in London in 2008-2009, and the Japanese version will be produced by the same staff. They came to Japan this past January to hold auditions, which reportedly included many famous actors. After hearing Sakamoto's singing, director Christopher Renshaw felt that he was perfect for the part of Zorro.
Sakamoto's part will include scenes of flamenco, flying, and fencing. He has already started physically preparing for the role.
"Zorro" will be performed at Tokyo's Nissay Theatre from January 13 to February 28, 2011. (Tokyograph)

Arashi has the #1 album this year, and SMAP's album outsells the other Johnny's groups

SMAP proves that they have still got it! Their latest single "This is Love" sold an impressive 276 000 copies, their highest first week single sales in over 5 years. This single has already outsold the latest efforts by NEWS, Yamapi, Kanjani8, Hey Say! JUMP and KAT-TUN.
Meanwhile on the album chart Arashi's Boku no Miteiru Fuukei sold 731 000, which already gives them the number 1 selling album of the year. (aramatheydidnt)

PR stunt for SP: The Motion Picture - Terrorists arrack Fuji TV's president and Okada Junichi defends him!

Today, Fuji TV held a special PR event for the upcoming two-parter movie "SP: The Motion Picture" at their head office in Odaiba, Tokyo. Just the day before was the "Fuji TV Day" and so the TV station's president decided to appear at the PR event for one of their most successful late-night dramas as well.
The president arrived in a black car at the head office and got escorted to the event by the 4th District Security Division of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department made up of Okada Junichi, Maki Yoko, Matsuo Satoru and Kamio Yuu.
Unfortunately, at the beginning of the event, the sky clouded up and it started to rain. All of a sudden, a couple of suspicious people appeared among the crowd and tried to attack the president. Matsuo and Kamio were able to pin down the first two with ease while another one rushed towards the president with an iron pipe. Fortunately Okada is well-trained in the Filipino martial art "Kali" and was able to eliminate this threat as well. All four of the actors were visibly delighted that everything worked out so well and even the rain suddenly stopped again as if it was part of the performance. The spectators were amazed and rewarded them with a rapturous applause.
The original drama "SP" that aired late-night back in the fall season of 2007 became a huge hit and surprisingly achieved an average rating of 15.4%, with one episode even reaching incredible 18.9%. It ended up outshining most of the prime-time dramas and became Fuji TV's most successful late-night drama. In the movie the small team will have to go up against threats on a much larger scale than in the drama and since it's a two-parter, it's double the fun.
"We wanted to create entertainment on a never before seen scale and kicked it off with a bang and an intensity that is never decreasing throughout the movie. I think you all are really going to enjoy it," Okada promoted the movie. Maki as well, "There is an incredible amount of action scenes with the guys, it's a feast for everyone who wants to see that, but I had a lot of action scenes as well. Beating and kicking up guys felt really good. The movie turned out great and I hope you will enjoy it."
Okada also praised the teamwork among the actors and the staff, "It was an exceptional long period of 8 months of filming, but the teamwork was amazing and everyone was like 'Let's challenge this project.' Compared to the drama it was like throwing one straight ball at full speed rather throwing a ball that changes its speed (to describe it in baseball terms)."
"SP: The Motion Picture – Ambition" will open on October 30 and the sequel " – Revolution" in spring 2011. (Kawaii Joyuu)

Nidishko Ryo's movie proves to be a box office hit

NEWS and Kanjani8′s Nishikido Ryo’s (25) latest movie “ちょんまげぷりん (Chonmage Pudding)” has set a new Japan movie record in its opening weekend, reports Cinema Today.
Since the movie was released on July 31, the movie’s first two day box office revenue has been reported to be more than 44 million yen, and has attracted more than 30,000 fans.
While critics might be fast to assume that most of the movie goers are fans of the star, cinema workers have reported a wide range of people ordering tickets including many families, couples, and senior citizens. (MomoEdgewood's Mediawatch)

LOL at the senior citizens part. I SHOULD SERIOUSLY STOP TYPING OUT MY THOUGHTSTRAIGHTAWAY.

Aoi Yuu cheated on Okada Junichi, leading to their breakup

Apparently, the reason for Okada Junichi of V6 (29) and actress Aoi Yuu (24) breaking up is Aoi's cheating, reports Nikkan Sports.

Earlier this month, Nikkan Sports had reported that Aoi and Omori Nao(38) were dating, after catching the couple on a group date in a restaurant in Tokyo in late July.

However, Aoi had only broken up with Okada in April this year, the paper reports.

A Nikkan Sports source had said that Aoi and previously been caught having a dinner date with Omori in January this year, and this was one of the reasons why she and Okada had broken up.

Also, it had been reported in June that Okada has a new girlfriend that has been seeing him from around mid-May. (MomoEdgewood's Mediawatch)

Uh, just a personal opinion, but lookswise, why would she choose Omori Nao over Okada?

Johnny's Entertainment's best tsundere?

Results of a goo survey on Johnny's boys in their 20s who have a strong tsundere* image. The survey was held for a week from 13th July to 20th July this year, with a grand total of  38 308 votes cast.

1. Akanishi Jin - 9479 votes
2. Matsumoto Jun - 8854 votes (I just had to add his picture!)
3. Ninomiya Kazunari - 5519 votes
4.Yamashita Tomohisa - 5236 votes
5. Kamenashi Kazuya - 2919 votes
6. Tanaka Koki - 1654 votes
7. Tegoshi Yuya - 1573 votes
8. Ueda Tatsuya - 842 votes (Ueda's picture too, though he doesn't look quite as cute as usual. I'm glad he made it into the list!)

*Tsundere is a term referring to people who are normally cold in personality but become overly fawning when they are around their love interest. (aramatheydidnt, goo)

First erson I thought of when I saw the title was Jun! I thought he'd top the list, especially with his new dorama where he's playing a tsundere. I hate love Bakanishi, but I don't really know what he's doing there, along with Tegoshi! My faves in this list: Matsujun, Kame and Ueda! <3

I know my blog's been dead (boring)

Hi all, I really can't find anything news-worthy to post today. (>.<) My preliminary exams will be starting next week, so I might not update so often. I usually post news about the Japanese actors/singers I know, and I won't post every single article of news on them, so the numbers of posts will decrease if I can't find anything interesting on them, hope you understand!

I've added a countdown timer at the sidebar to motivate myself to stop surfing the internet and study more, please bear with it! This blog will most probably be not as updated until after my state exams which are from 25th October to 15th November. But after my exams, I want to learn Japanese and then I can translate and write better articles, plus read all those fan magazines! :DD And I can watch Japanese dramas without relying so much on the subs. Teehee.

Maybe I sound like I'm crazy over my grades and my life is centered on getting straight As, but I'm quite sure that's how it works here.

From the ongoing poll, I can see that there are some who dislike my personal posts. Stick with it for a while! I just need somewhere for me to rant, and you can always skip them. As usual, emails and comments are welcome. Recently, I've been getting a lot of "advertisments" on my tagboard. Please refrain from doing so, especially when what you're advertising has nothing to do with Japanese entertainment/ anything in my blog! Oh, please ask me questions through Formspring~ My formspring account has been so dead...

GANTZ press conference

Not only were the stars of “GANTZ” excited to wear the characteristic GANTZ body suit, their cast members were too, it was revealed at the film’s press conference in Tokyo on 5th August, reports Eiga.com, Mainichi Shinbum Digital, and Oricon.

Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari (27), Matsuyama Kenichi (25), and the cast of sci-fi film “GANTZ” talked about working on the film.

The press conference was also watched live by 2000 fans in Hibiya park, central Tokyo.

Nino and Matsuyama play two friends, Kurono Kei and Kato Masaru, who die in a train accident, but are then mysteriously recalled back along with several other dead people to hunt down and kill aliens. The movie is a live action version of the manga series of the same name, which has to date sold more than 11 million copies and also has a large fan base in Europe.

All of the cast members had revealed that they were big fans of the manga before production. Nino said that this had given him some problems during filming. “I thought that if we were going to do a live action version, we should do it properly. “But (as an actor) I couldn’t talk about how the movie should be directed, and that made me a little sad. But I put everything I could into this movie,” he said.

The member of boyband Arashi had said the characteristic GANTZ body suit, which cost 500,000 yen to make, was the centre of attention throughout the filming. “There was a lot of waiting time (during filming) so people who didn’t wear the suit would be playing around and trying it on. I’m talking about (co-star) Yoshitaka-san.”

A shocked Yoshitaka Yuriko was fast to explain herself. “Why did you bring that up now!? I thought everyone had gone home so I thought this was my chance and tried it on. But then, Ninomiya-san hadn’t gone home yet."

“But when I put it on it was more revealing than I had imagined…and I threw it off because I got embarrassed,” she said.

Currently in post-production, film producer Sato Takahiro said he wants to create a movie that could compete with Christopher Nolan’s “Inception”. He also added that the female body suit actress Natsuna wears outlines her womanly figure clearly. Nino quickly responded by saying, “You’re making it sound like this is a pervert movie! It’s science fiction”.

Nino also said that being a fan had created other problems in his private life. “When I heard rumours it would be turned into a live action movie I was excited, but when I heard I would be starring in it I got a little depressed. “It means I can’t talk about it a lot with my GANTZ fan friends,” he said.

The star said one of the reasons why he had taken up the role was because of his co-star. “I was concerned about who would play Kato. But they told me they were thinking of Matsuyama-san and I just went, ‘If Matsuyama-san’s involved, I want to be a part of this’,” he said.

Matsuyama could not hold back a smile at the remark “I feel very privileged to hear Ninomiya-san speak of me like that. I couldn’t think of anyone else to play Kurono but Ninomiya-san as well,” he said.

With a budget of 40 billion yen and filming which had taken almost six months to finish, film director Sato Shinsuke Sato said he wanted to create a movie that would not simply be a copy of the manga, but something that could stand on its own. (MomoEdgewood's Mediawatch)
