Goto Maki talks about her stormy life

Ex-Morning Musume member, Goto Maki, made an appearance on “Kinyoubi no sumatachi he” (TBS) which was broadcasted on the 23rd, with the title of “Goto Maki, 24 years old’s confession”, where she talked about her stormy life.
Maki lost her father when she was in 5th grade due to an accidental fall at a mountain. Her mother worked hard and raised 4 kids by herself, however, her mother eventually developed liver problems and also suffered from a stroke. When her brother, Yuki (Ex-EE JUMP member) got arrested due to theft, Maki’s mother’s health condition got even worse, so Maki decided to retire from the entertainment industry.
Maki’s mother however, stopped her from retiring by saying, “I want to see you on the stage before I die.” After that, Maki transferred to Avex, and made plans to release a new single. One day before Maki’s mother died, Maki’s manager told her mother that her new single would be released in spring, and she said,”I can’t wait so long since I don’t have much time left.”
January 23rd was the day of Maki’s mother’s tragic death. Maki had the day off and her mother had come back home, her mother went into her brother’s room and sat in front of the window, looking outside. Maki went to answer a phone call and when she looked back at her mother, her mother had fallen out of the window.
Goto Maki is only 24 years old but has been through so much already – hopefully her stormy life will finally settle down. (tokyohive)

I barely know anything about Goto Maki, since I don't listen to her songs and I've never really been interested about her. The only thing I new about her was her appearing on the cover of a magazine, semi-nude. I had a faint distaste for her but mostly I just didn't really care aboout her. Now, I feel different after knowing about her life. Here's to a better life for Goto Maki!

Goto Maki appears semi-nude in GLAMOROUS

After making her comeback last Friday, Goto Maki (24) will be gracing the pages of women's fashion magazine GLAMOROUS. She will be half-naked, showing off her ample breasts. The magazine will be on sale from today (7 June) onwards at 690yen. Apparently this series would have been released earlier, but the death of Goto Maki's mother resulted in a postponement. (Sanspo)

Goto Maki returns to showbiz after mother's death

Since her mother's death in January this year, Goto Maki has been taking a break from any entertainment and singing related activities. However, she has now taken up work again with a mini live performance. 200 cheering fans greeted her, when she presented her song "Houseki" from her mini album "ONE" passionately.

"Because you have always come to see me. I would like to start over and quickly improve myself, as I want to continue singing", Goto pledged to her mother in heaven, tears spilling from her eyes.
Bowing her head repeatedly, she said "I received warm support from you since my mother's death in January, and that is the thing that has me standing in this place". Then, she announced the release of her new album to her eagerly waiting fans. "I think that mother is also telling me to 'give your best'. After all, she really liked live performances.", Gomaki added with a wholehearted laugh.
The new album is dedicated to her mother and also contains the ballad "hanauta". "At first I was really worried, but I decided to do it eventually", the singer added, looking confident. "Now is the time to look ahead, so please look out for me in the future", she asked her fans. (Music Japan+)
