Matsumoto Hitoshi (46), one half of comedy act Downtown, seems to be in poor health recently. His company reported that he has missed a few episodes of filming for his new variety show "Downtown DX" because he needed to rest. Downtown DX is to be aired on NTV and will begin on 24 September this year. Matsumoto Hitoshi is currently in many entertainment shows such as "Hey! Hey! Hey! Music Champ", "Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!!" and "Lincoln".
Previously, there have been some rumors about Matsumoto being sent to the hospital in an emergency. He is known to have suffered from lung inflammation and chronic arthritis. He also used to be a heavy ciggerate smoker, but quit in 2003. (nikkansports)
Matsumoto Hitoshi underwent surgery on his left hip, and will have to rest for two months.
