October 1st is “Glasses Day” in Japan (as set by the Japan Ophthalmic Business Association), and Oricon style has announced the results for the ‘ranking of celebrities who look good on glasses’. This is the fifth year that such a ranking has been held. Kimura Takuya kicks guest, enraging some. Kitagawa Keiko injured, filming of Paradise Kiss postponed.

Yesterday, the latest episode of long-running variety show "SMAP X SMAP" was aired. Kimura Takuya, when ended up kicking a comedian who made fun of him for the poor ratings of his drama that was aired earlier this year.

Kimura Takuya has starred in numerous Japanese dramas, the most recent being the previous season's Monday 9PM drama, "Moon Lovers". Despite all the hype surrounding the drama, its ratings were mediocre. There were many complaints about the weak plot

During last night's episode of "SMAP X SMAP", the guest was a comedian named Ariyoshi Hiroiki, who is well-known for being sharp-tongued. He was inventing new names for the SMAP members, and decided to call Kimura Takuya a "getsu9 idiot" (I'm thinking that he said "getsu kyu baka"). After he said it, Kimura glared at him for a while, asked for the filming to be cut, then proceeded to kick Ariyoshi's back. Later, Ariyoshi Hiroiki once again called Kimura a "dorama idiot". Kimura brought Ariyoshi off the set and messed up his hair.

Many netizens have expressed their views on this matter. Some feel that this was already arranged between Kimura and Ariyoshi before the filming, while others are upset that Kimura kicked Ariyoshi when it was just in good fun.

Kitagawa Keiko injured
Kitagawa Keiko, the main star of upcoming movie "Paradise Kiss" suffered a minor injury during filming. Apparently, her fingernail had gotten caught in a jade chain. Although she has said that she is fine, the accident left an obvious scar on her finger. Since it is hard to conceal the scar, filming has been postponed. (Yule)

Kitagawa Keiko and Osamu Mukai spotted together on her bithday! Poor Pi-chan~

Kitagawa Keiko (24) has almost always been romantically linked to Yamashita Tomohisa of NEWS, but it seems that she has found a new love interest - her newest co-star from "Paradise Kiss", Osamu Mukai (28).

Kitagawa and Osamu were seen together at a pub in Sangenjaya on 22 August. While some might be quick to dismiss it as over-dramatisation by tabloids and fans, Kitagawa Keiko's 24th birthday fell on 22 August 2010, the day they met up. Many would think that she would have chosen to spend such a special day with her long-time rumoured-to-be boyfriend, Yamapi.

A witness who was at the same pub said, "I first noticed Osamu, who was tall and very handsome. I was lucky to see him, a friend of mine who a fan of his pointed him out to me." (Entame)

Mukai Osamu and Kitagawa Keiko for "Paradise Kiss"

Anime News Network reports that Ai Yazawa's popular "Paradise Kiss" manga series will be turned into a live-action film, starring Kitagawa Keiko and Mukai Osamu. The project will be announced in the next issue of the fashion magazine Zipper.

"Paradise Kiss" tells the story of a high school girl named Yukari (Kitagawa) who meets a group of fashion school students. After they transform her into a model, she gains a passion for fashion and meets a romantic interest.

The supporting cast is said to include Kato Natsuki, Omasa Aya, Kaku Kento, Igarashi Shunji, and Yamamoto Yusuke.

Kitagawa Keiko vomits on her date with Yamashita Tomohisa (NEWS)

According to the tabloid Shukan Bunshun, NEWS member Yamashita Tomohisa and actress Kitagawa Keiko have been sighted together again. The two have been spotted together quite a few times. However, this date between the two of them did not go so well, and Kitagawa ended up vomiting because she drank too much.

Sometime in mid-April, Yamashita and Kitagawa went to a restaurant together. The public were able to see them as the restaurant had no private rooms. Yamapi was wearing a cap, perhaps in an attempt to disguise himself, and was sitting opposite Kitagawa. The two began eating chicken and drinking alcohol together.

A short while later, they were joined by ISSA from the band DA PUMP and another man(?). According to the person who reported this, Kitagawa went to the toilet many times. Once, as she was coming back, she had to lean on the wall and hold on to seats for support. She looked completely drunk. Yamapi and ISSA soon started shouting for a bag for Kitagawa to vomit in. She then vomitted, and Yamapi kept on asking her if she was feeling okay,  (大丈夫). What an eventful date!

The two were also seen in Harajuku this May. (Entame)

Kitagawa and Lin Chi-ling are good friends?

Kitagawa Keiko made a new blog entry on July 11th. Keiko visited Taiwan, because her new movie “Matataki” was showing at the “Taipei Film festival.”
She wrote that she met Lin Chi-ling who Keiko co-stared with in drama “Moon Lovers“. Keiko said on her blog entry, “Chi-ling visited my hotel today, even though she must be very busy. She gave me flowers, introduced me to a good Taiwanese massage place. In return for Chi-ling’s kindness, I promised her that I will guide her when she comes to Japan next time. We also exchanged letters. It’s very unmodern to exchange letters, not using emails, but I was happy and moved by her thoughtfulness. I am happy to be friends with her!”
Although the Taiwanese media reported that Keiko and Lin were on bad terms, it seems like they are good friends! (Tokyohive)

Kitagawa wants to find true love, and Okada Masaki wants...

Yesterday, actress Kitagawa Keiko (23) and actor Okada Masaki (20) attended a special stage greeting for their movie "Matataki" (also "Piecing Me Back Together"). The special event was held in order to thank their fans for pushing the movie to the first place for having the most tickets sold in advance and since it's only a few days until the Tanabata Festival (a star festival), both of them appeared in beautiful kimonons.
Kitagawa's wish in front of the Tanabata decorations, "I have the same Zodiac sign as the current year and will turn 24 this year. I think that's a critical point in my life and it would be great if an as twinkling (matataki) and true love was happening to me as well."
Okada's amusing wish, "It would be great if my curly hair would straighten out this year. It's always getting curled again. Recently I tried to counter it with moisture products…"
Matataki is a love story about true love. Kitagawa and Okada play the couple Izumi and Junichi. One day they end up in a traffic accident that leaves Junichi dead and the shock from her boyfriend's sudden death causes Izumi to lose her memory from the time of the accident. Later she slowly starts to remember the accident and all the deep feelings he had for him.
The movie already opened on June 19 and was supported by various PR activities that already started back in April. Today's event marked the end of their domestic campaign to promote the movie and they went on stage to thank everyone who went to see the movie so far. They received flowers from the staff and the audience even thanked them for making such a beautiful movie. "It was the first time I got thanked for making a movie," Kitagawa was moved and responded with a smile. (Kawaii Joyuu)

Lin Chi-Ling to take acting classes after dismal performance in "Moon Lovers"

Taiwanese model-actress Lin Chiling expressed her disappointment over the dismal ratings of her Japanese drama serial "Moon Lovers" and revealed that she hopes to take some acting classes next year, reported Chinese media.
Speaking to reporters while attending the high-profile Royal Ascot horse races in the UK, Lin was evasive and said, "Could we not talk about the ratings (of "Moon Lovers")? Frankly, I am a little depressed at the moment."
"I want to take this chance to take in as much air as I can. This can be considered a short break!" Lin added.
"Moon Lovers", despite starring Japanese superstar Kimura Takuya and other well-known actresses like Kitagawa Keiko and Shinohara Ryoko, managing only 13.4% in ratings. Its average ratings also lost out to other J-dramas this season.
The drama's producer, Fuji RV, was reportedly so disappointed that it intends to cut short the show's run to eight episodes instead of the usual ten for a drama in the 9pm time slot, with its finale scheduled to air on July 5 in Japan.
Many netizens had blamed the drama's poor ratings on a bad script and Lin's acting. Despite this setback, Lin said she "will improve in the areas I am weak in and satisfy everyone".
The 35-year-old went on to reveal that she hopes to make time for acting classes at the beginning of next year. (CNA)

Just like everyone else, I'm pretty confused over whether they're really in a relationship or not. (the rumors do change really fast, don't they?!) Especially since with the Japanese gossip mentality that,"Oh! X and Y were eating a meal together! They must be together!"

Anyway, back to the point! Based on tweets and blogs of various Japanese netizens, it seems like Yamashita Tomahisa and Kitagawa Keiko were out together on the 13th of June, since most of the timings and locations given seem to tally.

But then, I'm thinking that this is probably a well-planned ruse, since I haven't come across any pictures! (Entame)

Okada Masaki and Kitagawa Keiko at press conference for "Matataki"

On May 9th, a press conference was held for the movie "Matataki", which is starring Kitakawa Keiko and Okada Masaki. Both of them taking part in the press conference. While Kitagawa described the appeal of the movie by saying "I'm devoting myself to the true love I learned about through the movie 'Matataki'", Okada pledged to overcome his fear of bugs by stating, "I will not be afraid of bugs anymore."
The movie is about the sad love story of two lovers involved in a tragic accident. On the topic of giving yourself up to save the one you love, Okada said "Unless you have been in that position, you probably can't really know, however, I would want to protect the person I love." At the same instant: "I really hate bugs..." Very no link-ish, no?!
When asked how he would react if there was a caterpillar on the shoulder of his girlfriend, he replied "I'd try not to be scared and just tell her."
On the other hand, Kitagawa said: "I'd get rid of the caterpillar without my lover noticing it." And to show how she'd do it, she touched Okada's shoulder, which had him cry out "You scared me!", which made it apparent, how Okada's pledge came to be from his real fear of bugs. At first when I saw this article I was thinking... Okada Junichi? Then I realised that Okada Masaki was the actor who acted as Sekime in Hana Kimi! Hahaha I really liked him in Hana Kimi though he appeared for like 3minutes in the entire series... Hana Kimi's just bursting with hot/cute/pretty guys!

Yamapi from NEWS (24) and actress Kitagawa Keiko (23) have been spotted on a date on 29 May, just 2 days ago. Though they are both well-known idols, the two of them walked along the streets openly and did not seem worried about exposing their identities. Kitagawa Keiko unhappy with her role in "Moon Lovers"?

Remember this post here? I've found more gossip about the dorama! Lin is going to make her first appearance in a Japanese dorama and also help Kimura to raise his popularity in Asia outside of Japan. Shinohara is making her big comeback to the dorama world and what would be better than a dorama with Kimura.

Now what about Kitagawa? There doesn't seem to be any particular reason for her to be in this dorama, especially not just as the third actress. The tabloid Shukan Bunshun, however, claims that her casting might be the aftermath of Sawajiri Erika's sudden discharge from her agency last year.
A media insider explained the situation: "Kitagawa has been in the talks for a starring role in a Fuji TV dorama this spring, but suddenly it was decided for her to appear in a supporting role next to Kimutaku. Her popularity is already high enough and she doesn't have to rely on someone like him to get good ratings, yet she has been casted as just the third actress in line for this dorama. She is said to be very dissatisfied with this decision."
Kimura and his staff usually are able to choose their favorite cast for his projects, but this time there might have been more bargaining going on than usual.
"It isn't just Kimutaku who does the casting, the relationship between his and other agencies have a big influence on the decisions as well. Johnny's are known for being very close with Stardust Promotions, that's why he already had actresses like Takeuchi Yuuko or Shibasaki Kou acting at his side. Kitagawa is from the same agency, but that's no reason to miss out a starring role for her just to get her in a Kimutaku dorama…," an industry official told the tabloid.
It might have all started with the casting for Kimura's "Space Battleship Yamato" last year. His side only made an unofficial offer, but it was obvious that they wanted Stardust's Sawajiri for the female lead. Unfortunately they decided to terminate her contract for all the trouble she has caused them and so he hurriedly had to choose Kuroki Meisa as her substitute.
"Everything would have worked out for Kimura Takuya with Sawajiri Erika at his side. The fact that her agency made a one-sided decision without caring about his project, they've allowed to become indebted to him. The two agencies might be close with each other, but it's an unwritten rule in the industry that you have to clear your debts. The result is that they had to pay it back by having their most popular young actress, Kitagawa Keiko perform in his new dorama no matter what big of a role," another industry official explained. The co-stars of Kimura Takuya in "Moon Lovers" revealed

More details about Kimura Takuya's upcoming drama series were revealed on Tuesday. Titled "Tsuki no Koibito ~Moon Lovers~," the drama will air in Fuji TV's Monday 9:00pm time slot this spring, though the starting broadcast date has not yet been determined.
As reported earlier this month, the drama has Kimura (37) playing the president of an interior design company. It is described as his first real romance series since "Beautiful Life" in 2000, but he will have not one, but THREE female co-stars!
Leading the list of actresses is Shinohara Ryoko (36), cast as a capable interior designer who works with Kimura. The complicated relationship between the two characters goes back to their days as students together. Kimura and Shinohara previously acted together in the 1997 series "Gift."
Next is Taiwanese star Lin Chi-ling (35), who appeared in the "Red Cliff" movies. This will be her first time in a Japanese drama. She plays a Chinese woman whom Kimura encounters.
The third love interest is played by Kitagawa Keiko(23), portraying a popular model who comes from a wealthy family.
Another key member of the cast is actor Matsuda Shota (24). He plays one of Kimura's subordinates who seems to be obedient, but secretly has his own ambitions. However, he also becomes entangled in the five-way romance. His role reportedly has him speaking fluently in Chinese. (Tokyograph)
